Sampling Woes

Making corrections to my research proposal, I came across a hurdle. Although I provided information about population and sampling, I did not fully comprehend the various types of sampling designs.   Reading various books and articles proved futile, as I could not decide on a sample design.

Discussing my woes with a lecturer, she advised me that since I'm doing mixed method research, I should have different sampling designs and not just one.

Talking about my proposal and discussing issues, helped to pacify some of my woes. I hope that this blog will be a means to support fellow "researchers" and that the more experienced researchers will share their advise and guide as along.

I found the following two books the easiest to understand:

Title: Practical research : planning and design
By: Paul D. Leedy and Jeanne Ellis Ormrod.
Edition: 10th
Year: 2013
ISBN: 9780132899505

Title: Essentials of nursing research: Appraising evidence for nursing      practice.
By:  Denise F. Polit and Cheryl Tatano Beck
Edition: 8th
Year: c2014
ISBN: 9781451176803

I found the article by Charles Teddlie  and Fen Yu very enlightening  "Mixed Methods SamplingA Typology With Examples"
