WELCOME



The aim of this blog is to provide support while writing your thesis or dissertation.  Books recommended by academics & students will be posted, writing tips, referencing,  organizing your work, research tips, formatting MS word documents are some of the issues that are going to be addressed. Your input & recommendations will be highly appreciated.

The demand for research books has increased over the years.  In 2011, we created a special section for the "research" books.  Previously found throughout our collection, the books are now found in one location, facilitating easy retrieval and browsing.

A range of titles covering, nursing research, general research, nursing theories, thesis writing, literature reviews, academic writing, epidemiology, and statistics can be found. Books are available for a 7 day loan period with an option to renew.

Penny Gill and I were honoured to be part of a team that published a book Telling stories differently: engaging 21st-century students through digital storytelling(DST).  Published by Sun Media the book evolved as a collaboration between  Janet Condy, an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), and CPUT academics to capture their research projects using DST.  The purpose of the book is to share a collection of studies using DST as a pedagogical tool in CPUT.  The book was launched on Thursday 3 September 2015 at the International RASA and Pan African Literacy Conference in the Baxter Hall. Presenting at the 27th International Nursing Research Congress

The 27th International Nursing Research Congress was held in Cape Town South Africa from 21-25 July 2016. Over 700 nurse researchers, students, clinicians, and leaders attended the International Nursing Research Congress to learn from evidence-based research presentations. Amongst the notable presenters were WCCN/CPUT’s Penny Gill and Karien Orton. Penny Gill presented on “From Health Professional to Film Producer in One Easy Workshop: Creating Digital Stories” Click here to access the PowerPoint presentation. Dr Anso Truter writes a chapter

Dr. Truter has once again written a chapter in a book for Juta publisher s .   The latest edition of Sellers' Midwifery  has been revised and aligns with international and national public health strategies that aim to improve maternal and antenatal care as a sustainable development goal. Dr. Truter wrote chapter 48 which centres around the role of the midwife in reproductive health care and includes updated information on contraception and fertility planning.  Book Details Truter, A. 2018.
